Default Stop suggesting GWs is dying and scare-mongering.

Ive been playing nearly every day for the last year and a half, and I cant say ive noticed any changes.

People are being absolutely paranoid just because the numbers are spread thinner between three campaigns, which is to be expected.

Stop being so moronic and posting thread after thread titled "why GWs is dying and how to fix it", or "why I think guild wars is dying".

ITS NOT!!! For a 2 year old game, its doing damn well and its 15 minutes of fame still arent up.

There are no other non-monthly subscription MMOs on the market to compete with it. Especially not ones with superb graphics. The only other ones which can clame to be free MMOs are japanise web-based ones with 20 year old graphics which are aimed more at the diable2 and FF fans.

Anet isnt running out money and they certainly arent going bankrupt, and their "business plan" doesnt seem bad to me.

But honestly. Who cares about Anet's business plan and current state of affiars. We're meant to be playing this game to enjoy it and get away from real life. So stop worrying about such rediculious things.

Ofcourse this game will eventually have less players in it and eventually Anet will close the servers. But that wont be for a while because there is always a constant influx of new noob players. You see them all over the place asking daft questions and asking for help. How is that a sign of sales collapsing? Its not. Its a sign that people are influxing to the game allll the time. We're even stealing people away from WoW because their sick of the monthly fees and the ease of GWs compared to it.

So stop worrying.

most online game forums have doomsayer talk after the 1st expansion

people have been predicting EverQuest's death for over 7 years and its still pumping out expansions annually.

many (most?) people who enjoy online games dont read forums anyhow
- they are too busy playing

I have to agree

I play both GW and EQII and I was just reading over there this morning

Oh woe is me I am leaving EQ is dying. (doom,doom)
And ya you may see some going to check out Wow's new chapter but
that happens.

Sure some places are light in population right now but it will even out.

Am I tired of GW? Heck no!!!!

I will play until the last day, and I think that day is a long way off.

GW may die for YOU, but that is only for YOU and without any need to spread the death of GW in YOURSELF. I have never taken any of these negative topics on GW seriously, because despite what they are saying GW is still up and making records.

Of course the people are spread thinner about the continent, I fail to see how this is a surprise. Unless the number of players doubled when factions was released, it will be spread thinner, and same when nightfall was released. Eventually the population will be spread very very thinly, pugging will get almost impossible. You will have to rely on your guild/friends list but even so, unless you'e advancing at the same pace you're going to be down to either rerunning missions or hero/henching them.

At some point Guild Wars will die. The alternative would be to have it go on forever, and that's just pretty unlikely. Yes the Anet business model may be "short-sighted", the schedule for expansions and nature of these expansions guarantees a thinning population. I think the point is though, that the game has already enjoyed greater success than it would ever have done without this business model.

Games don't last forever, eventually we'll all quit and move onto the next big thing, or give up gaming. Just enjoy this while it lasts.

When the time is right I hope they make a guildwars2 with a new engine and all but where you can transfer your characters like the Baldur's Gate/Icewind Dale series. Just a thought.

I don't think the game is dying at this point, the population is spread thinner yes.

This is pretty much what I've been saying myself, except I went the step further and explained how people were wrong about aspects of GW's 2 profession model.

But don't no one hijack this thread on my account, it holds true. I am always sick of seeing just one thread about how this little kid in their room, not even done with 8th grade, has the complete background and information at Anet, and knows exactly why they "are dying" and proposes their "ideas" of the "fix" to a non-existent problem. It's hilarious, in an annoying way.

Guild Wars isn't dead, however I and a number of my colleagues are ready for some information about the future of Guild Wars.... whether that be Guild Wars 2, or another expansion pack.

When they say absolutely nothing about sequels or big planned features, it gives the impression of stagnation, and people start jumping to wild conclusions. Ultimately it's a vicious cycle.

Well, people see their long time playing friends start to leave and it feels like the game is dying. They don't see the new people coming in (and according to Anet's stats there is a healthy turnover). It's been nearly 18 months (a key time for any morpg) and a lot of people are simply going to get bored, as with any game. Anet chose to use the ability to start at the most recent chapter ("it's not an expansion, it's standalone!!1!!") so that new players would have an easy time getting into the game, all designed to keep the playerbase churning. But as someone has said, it's been 18 months and from this point onwards there will always be people declaring the death of Guild Wars, simply because from where they are standing, after looking at their guild roster and friends list, that's exactly what it feels like. Their missing friends and inactive guildies are getting replaced (events are drawing more people than ever before) but that's just how it feels to some people.

No offense intended Freak(and thats not lip service), but cant I just as easily say stop making these posts complaining about the communtiy, they never end(and they dont,no matter what game it is,no matter how many people proclaim its virtues). How many times do you think,"Is Diablo Dying" been asked on the D2 forums around the world

There will always be whining amd complaining, and doomsday predictions,etc,etc, et all. Its been that way since the start of time, infact its the very reason forums were created, and now people bemoan the fact that the creatiion has taken on a life of its own,
The sooner you accept it, the sooner it stops bothering you.
Or you can just go on, debating lifes mysteries, fueling the fire(so to speak), which is cool, that is what the forum is for.

Omg, this is such a pointless debate..... I could careless if Guild Wars dies. If GW dies, which is not going to happen anytime soon, I'll just find myself another game to play. I've played this game since April of 2005, I have all 3 chapters and I have to say GW is getting boring... I don't plan on buying another chapter because, even though they'll have something great, its just not worth it...

Though Guild Wars is getting somewhat boring, I still Support Anet/NcSoft. I'll always support NcSoft because it's simply my favorite company

EA = Crap!
SOE = Crap!
Blizzard = Crap!
Other Wannabe Companies = Crap!
"WOW" = World of Warcrap! WoW FTL!

If you're into guildwars or wow (meh ) Check out NCsoft's newest game that's still underdevelopment:AION

Again, this Debate is POINTLESS! IF you really want to spark some fires, go talk about people talking politics in game. MAKES ME LAUGH MY HEAD OFF!!

Campaign 4 exists, and it's under development.

Work started over six months ago, actually.

And that's .... pretty much everything I can tell you for now.

Hey everyone I am back from the holiday season and jury duty what fun huh?

Anyways on topic, considering that there are many people that live in certain ideologies, you can never stop them from saying that “something is coming to an end.” We pretty much get the idea that nothing lasts forever, but taking it to such extreme lengths will only undermine you (unless you have proof). I personally love A-Net’s strategy for Guild Wars, and it’s still building momentum. Even now, “NO” other popular online RPG like Guild Wars offers the non-subscription fee route they offer. Which I think is a personal crime in this industry, (to have subscription fee's) no matter what you say about it (that’s my opinion).

In any game however there is room for improvement. Take it from George Lucas, “A movie is never finished, only abandoned,” this goes for video games as well. A-net still continues to grow on it’s orginal design, because a continuation of Guild Wars can be infinite if you think about it (any game unverse is). Yes the players (consumers) make the game go and keeps it alive. So looking to that fact, has there been any real downfall of numbers of players quiting Guild Wars. Unless it was a dramtic fault somewhere I have yet to see the masses leaving Guild Wars; (as if the world was ending for real) it won’t slow the design team down from creating that infinte possibilty.
